Pretty Flowers

I love the flowers around the house. The previous owners planted all kinds of perennials.

I can't wait for all of the lilies and irises to open

I've never had a rose bush before...I sure hope I can figure out how to take care of it. Suggestions are welcome.

Ireland saw me with the camera and ran outside in her pajamas...silly girl

The rosemary keeps growing

I found this mushroom shaped bird house at an antique shop last week.

Sorry, no crochet this time. Maybe next time I can show some real progress on the yarn storage. I'm making a little progress...winding one or two yarn balls every day.

I guess I'm just more interested in spending time outside and enjoying spring:)

Have a great week

Unpacking My Yarn...At Last

I've put off unpacking my yarn until I found some neat storage ideas on Pinterest.

Above is a small start. I still have 5 more boxes to go through and ball or wind up. I love the idea found at Knitsforlife.

My little winder is there in the middle of the mess. It will take me awhile to wind all of the yarn to go on the pegboard. I chose not to paint the pegboard.

Sorry to be so boring with all of these projects. I've not been too creative lately, but at least I'm being inspired by the creativity of others.

Concrete Planters

Last weekend I made some concrete planters. Yes...this was another Pinterest project. I'm a little addicted;)

The first batch was for these small ones. I used plastic bowls for the round/ oval ones and a Soy Milk carton for the square one.

I'm using these for succulents. I planted cactus seeds in the middle and square one earlier today. Now I'm motivated to make the big ones I really want. I hate spending $30 plus for a large planter so I'm going to try to make a couple of great big ones with the concrete.

I spent the rest of today working outside. I have to show you the rosemary that I need help with.

I researched online that I should prune it in the winter...well it's too late now, so I'm wondering if it will hurt it to prune and take cuttings now. I've never had rosemary this ginormous before.

To follow up on a previous project...the window boxes are done. You can see them in the photo. I just need to figure out what to plant in them.

I've also been working on the play room. It still looks bad...but better.

This photo doesn't show the whole room...I have to figure out how to cover the ugly HVAC in the corner. Any ideas?

For my next post I'll try to show you something related to crochet. I still haven't unpacked my yarn. I know...shame on me.

I'm itching to crochet something, maybe I should search Pinterest...hehe.
I'm thinking about something in jute for the house. Hmmm

A Little Crochet and More Pinterest Projects

The past two weekends were so nice. The weather was perfect for getting outside. Spring is almost here:)

I re-potted several plants including this monster aloe. All of these came from one plant (the one in the back)
I mentioned that I would like to build two window boxes and Michael ran with the idea. He started off strong by going to Lowes and getting lumber, Kilz primer, and paint.

This is how the boxes look now...hahaha

Work always seems to get in the way.

I decided to put Pinterest to good use again.

I bought a couple of bags of small stones from Dollar General, (only used a small amount)
E 6000 from Hobby Lobby,
and glued them onto a rubber placemat found at IKEA (cut into two smaller circles)

I originally had a trivet in mind for this project, but it looks interesting as a centerpiece

I haven't really crocheted much. I did make two squares for the patchwork. I've been wanting to post about a pair of fingerless mitts I made a few weeks ago. I know it's practically spring so I'm not sure if I'll post that pattern or not. Let me know what you think;)

Oh, I almost forgot...I also tried a Pinterest recipe. I made crock pot chicken and dumplings and they were yummy.

For now, I think I'll finally try to get caught up with my blog reading.

I hope everyone has a peaceful upcoming week.

I'm Still Alive

It's been a long time. I've wanted to post for awhile, but have nothing to show. We have gotten moved and have everything unpacked except the craft/play room.

This is just a horrible sight...the last room to unpack. Hopefully I can get to work on it this week and next weekend. We've been here for 3 weeks now and all other rooms are good. It takes a lot of time to get settled.

I have nothing crafty to show you. No time for crochet...but I am itching to get back at it. Maybe I'll work on the patchwork or ripple at night after work.

My yarn is still in several boxes...another sad sight...sigh

Ireland is happier now. It took some time for her to get used to her new room, but she is good now.

My Nikon battery charger is still missing, so I'll get photos of the house when it turns up...if it ever does. I may have to order a new one.

I have gotten lots of messages and emails and I promise that I have read all of them. I'm so sorry for not responding to all of them. I'll get to that this week as well.

Hopefully I'll be back in a couple of days with something crafty to blog about;)

I'm off to catch up on blog reading...I've missed my blogging buddies:)

Smashing

Here lately I've not been in a crocheting mood. I've been smashing this weekend.

I thought I would share some of my smash book pages. I am using part of this book as design pages for the new house. Each room gets a page. Most of the things on the pages are found at IKEA. Some are from mid-century furniture.com.

The page below includes the things we are going to buy for our workspace/ playroom/ craft room in the new house. Ireland and I will be sharing this space. We plan on making a trip to IKEA in a couple of weeks.

Currently, I'm working on the pages for the sun room and master bedroom.

The pages below are about my recent crafty projects.

I think I'll crochet a little this afternoon. I'm trying to finish Ireland's scarf made from the alpaca we bought at the alpaca farm.

Still no progress on the patchwork. I've crocheted 2 squares in the past week so I thought I would wait a few days before taking more photos...when I have more to show.

I'll probably post less over the next 2-3 weeks, since we are needing to start packing everything. I'm in the mood to move...chomping at the bit to get a date. (There was a major issue with the appraisal this time...the house was classified as an underground or passive solar house...making it impossible to find comparables)

It does not look underground to me. Passive solar maybe? There are 2 earth berm rooms, so that has been the issue. Absolutely nothing has went smooth with this house. A second appraisal had to be done, since the first one became a problem. We have been reassured that this won't be a problem now...we will see;) I'm at the point where I'll have to see it in writing to believe it. I am open to start looking for another house...it's just so stinkin hard to find land right now. We really wanted this house for all of the land.

Now they are telling us closing may be at the end of this month...so less blogging and more packing and getting ready.

Have a great rest of the weekend and upcoming week:)
