SAFF

On October 31st and November 1st we attended the Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair (SAFF) in Fletcher, NC.

This is an annual event that I've always wanted to attend.

It's a huge event with hundreds of vendors. I was overwhelmed with the amount and variety of fiber available.

We loved seeing the alpacas, sheep, goats, and llamas. There were competitions and shows.

The first day was Halloween, so Ireland had fun getting candy.

There were soooo many vendors... I was amazed and in a daze

The artwork ...

And yarn bowls... (This one is mine)

And baskets... (This one is mine)

More at the fair

And fiber arts... This lady is amazing with needle felting

I took a beginner spinning class and my very first skein of handspun wool is the one on the left of course.

Here is a pic of most of the things I bought. Michael surprised me with the Gerschubie yarn. I was yarn drunk, and by the second day still had not bought any. I just couldn't make up my mind. I guess he was tired of me walking around in circles so he walked around by himself and showed up with the yarn.

I also bought a drop spindle and some roving

We all had a lot of fun... even Michael. We stayed in Asheville (which is one of my favorite places), and took Ireland trick or treating in the country club neighborhood. Michael even offered to buy me a spinning wheel.  I just might get one.

I will definitely return to SAFF again.

Enjoy your Sunday✌️

  4. It looks like you had fun! That's a real variety of fiber. I'm just learning to crochet, want to make few nice things for my upcoming baby) We were TTC for a long time and then I've found this article http://rocketparents.com/the-fastest-way-to-get-pregnant-is-there-such-a-thing/ which made everything easier... Anyway, with such an amount of fiber how did you make your choice? It would be rather difficult for me...And, your yarn bowl is fantastic! I want the same!

  5. Ohh those lamas are so cute! I've never seen them in real life but I'm sure I'll really love them. My friend from http://www.stilusessaywriting.com/ says they are a little bit angry animals but I'm sure such adorable creatures can't be aggressive, isn't it?
