A New Blanket WIP

Yes, I've lost it. I started a new blanket...only because Ireland asked


It seems everyone is participating in the Crochet Mood Blanket project. I thought about it and then reminded myself how terrible I am with blankets... I'm still working on the patchwork. But when your child asks you for something, you do it. So here I am crocheting 2 or 3 squares each night.

I decided to make each one different, trying to mix it up.


If it gets boring I lose my motivation. So maybe this idea will keep this long project interesting. I can choose a different pattern and color for each one.

Here is a beautiful sight...


I'm so proud and excited to see her crocheting. She is just chaining for now. I hope she will like it as much as I do. Of course I won't force her, but I will definitely try to inspire her. I hope she continues to have the desire to learn.

Now, I guess I'll work on her blanket. The color for tonight is purple.

    Using different kind of Granny Squares is a good idea for a blanket. I wish you good luck and a lot of fun with your project and remember: Every Square you've finished is one Square less to crochet ;) And your little lady will love it, I'm sure :)

    Your Granny squares are looking really nice. I totally understand what you said about being crocheting and going for the call of somebody in need of help lol...Lovely photo the one with your daughter mine is still very young but I hope she try in a few years time :)

      I think mine is still a little young. But at least she is showing interest. Her attention span is still sooo short at 6 years old.

    I'm saying nothing about finishing blankets I've got all the squares ready to complete 3 blankets and they're still sat in my basket!! I love the photo of your daughter chaining, we all started by chaining, bless her look at the concentration on her face :)

    A beautiful sight indeed! I have encouraged my own daughter all her life doing crafts of all kinds. She now is in college majoring in Costume Design.

    how exciting to be teaching out little one to crochet! No kids yet, but something I already look forward to being about to do :-)

    love the patterns you are using - could you share any that you've found online? I'm doing a Mood Blanket for 2014, but am gathering ideas for future years ;-)

      I am using patterns found on Ravelry and in a book that I bought about 15 years ago. Ravelry or Pinterest should point you in the right direction. There are thousands of ideas on Ravelry. Just search "squares".

    Just imagining the look of delight on your little ones face when you have finished will spure you on I am sure. My little man who is four loves me to make a long chain so that he can pull it undone!

      Yes, and when she sees it, maybe that will motivate her to create a square too. Or at least learn a stitch.

      No specific squares. Just look on Ravelry. There are thousands of crochet patterns there.

    How lovely that your daughter is learning the joys of crochet! Mine at 18 still shows no interest whatsoever, but then I didnt learn myself until I was nearly 50!!!

    Oh I love this! I remember my mom trying to teach me to crochet and it just didn't stick. But now crochet is a way of life for me :)
